Technology Systems Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW 

Provides technical assistance on information technology systems for customers and company employees as directed by their manager.  Primary emphasis will be to resolve customer and employee service calls over the telephone, via remote access or on site within timeframes established by their manager or the customer. 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

  • Provides technical assistance to customers and company employees in resolving service issues pertaining to Information Technology systems as assigned by their manager. Resolves customer and employee inquiries in a timely manner and to 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Performs moves, adds and changes on customer's and company's Information Technology Systems that can be performed remotely or at Tech's site.
  • Assures that our Information Technology services are rendered within acceptable limits of our customers or employees; escalates to their manufacturer and/or their manager if appropriate levels cannot be maintained.
  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of Information Technology Systems for our customers and company systems.
  • Provides "in-person" and/or telephone support and/or remote access for customer and company information technology systems.
  • Participates in the after-hours on-call rotation with the IT Team to help cover our customers during non-business hours.
  • Adds and maintains users for the company's information technology systems as assigned by their manager.
  • Participates in Team meetings, providing input and suggestions, and prepare minutes of discussion items.
  • Monitors and reports licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a monthly basis.
  • Utilizes technology to provide staff with a fast, accurate, and secure method of gaining access to information so they can service the customer in the fastest and most efficient manner possible.
  • Obtains industry and/or manufacturer certifications as required by their manager; proactively reviews and assists their manager in the development of their own education and certification plan.
  • Provides recommendations for and implements approved security policies for both all offices.

Secondary Functions

  • Perform all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by their manager.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:  In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  2. The employee must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include clarity of vision at 20 feet or more as well as 20 inches or less.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:  In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job

SUPERVISORY DUTIES 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

The following are the minimum qualifications an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Education:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
  • Experience (the following items are general guidelines but are not required to fulfill this position
  • PC Hardware Experience minimum two (2) years experience in the following:
    • Assembly, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PCs and related hardware, ISA, PCI buses, Pentium and Intel-based systems, also including basic hardware expertise with hubs, switches, and various application-specific cards such as fax, T-1, DS-3, ISDN, RAID, etc., and specifically the Xiotech Magnitude.
  • PC Software Experience minimum two (2) years experience in the following:
    • Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2019, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2016, Office 365, Outlook 2013-2016, Terminal Services, , IIS Web Server, Good understanding of HTML and PowerShell Scripting, knowledge of network analysis software and hacking/cracking software and how they are used.
  • Network Experience minimum one (1) year experience in the following:
    • Overall network cabling schematic/design knowledge, Good specific knowledge of various protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6. Good understanding of routers and routing the various protocols, Good understanding of the Internet and how it fits into the corporate infrastructure, Good understanding of Firewall concepts and how to implement a secure connection to the Internet.
  • User Support Experience minimum two (2) years experience in the following:
    • Good people person, responsive to people's needs, good communication skills, good training skills, good familiarity with end-user application features and capabilities, strong perception skills - - the users are top priority.
  • Skills/Abilities:
  • Exceptional multitasking ability
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision

  • Ability to finish projects
  • Ability to work with other technically gifted individuals in a team environment where the goal is to have a winning team. The focus is specifically not on the individual, but the Tech team.
  • Ability to take direction from immediate supervisor and work with little supervision and deliver results.
  • Typing skills 40-50 WPM

  • CompTIA A+
  • Certified Wireless Technician (CWT)
  • Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate: MD-100 and MD-101
  • Microsoft MTA-Networking Fundamentals or CompTIA Network+
  • Government/Military security clearance is a plus (but not a requirement)
  • Valid state Driver's License
  • Must maintain Automobile Liability Insurance with minimum limits of:
    • $100,000 each person
    • $300,000 each accident
    • $100,000 property damage
  • Travel Required:
  • Employee must be capable of providing dependable personal transportation.
  • Employee is required to travel to and from customer sites as needed.
  • Occasional out of town travel required for training and/or other purposes.
