Technology Systems Specialist - Data

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Technology Systems Specialist is responsible for installation and maintenance of customer IT networks.  This could include Windows Server, routers, switches, wireless and desktop PC's.  Support will be required on site at the customer location, remotely from our office, as well as phone support. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES/DUTIES: 

  • Performs project management of assigned projects. Develops and oversees project implementation plan to ensure project is installed within timelines and within budgets.
  • Designs information technology system programs; facilitates design meetings with the customer (internal or external).
  • Implements information technology systems for customers including but not limited to design, acquisition, management, planning, deployment, programming, testing, and completion according to scope of work and to customer's satisfaction.
  • Performs programming of the information technology based on design meetings with the customer; develops required documentation in order to effectively communicate the final design to other project or department team members. Tests system programming as required; ensures proper system operation based on design specifications.
  • Presents a professional company image at all times to the customer; acts as the on site customer service representative for the installation; facilitates quick resolution of all system design and training related questions and/or concerns.
  • Coordinates all aspects of training with the customer including training sessions, training times, training environment, system setup, delivery of training material, and administrative training. Leads project team on arranging the training schedule.
  • Designs, creates and copies custom training course material and ensures that this training material is distributed and referenced during the training session to the customer's employees. Controls the training environment to ensure the training environment is secluded, conducive to learning, free from inter-personal distractions, ensures that it is both professional, and functional.
  • Performs post-cutover follow up with the customer; documents system operation issues, design issues, and training issues during follow up; prioritizes and assigns these issues to appropriate team members for resolution; ensures that each issue is resolved; and keeps project team members (including the customer) informed on the progression of these issues.
  • Provides service and support to customers (whether the customer is an assigned account or not). This includes but is not limited to receiving calls from customers, resolving issues remotely for customers, dispatching to customer sites, working on systems for customers, interacting with other vendors on behalf of customers, maintaining an awareness of contract status of customers and insuring work is properly charged against a contract or billed to the customer based on our agreement with them, etc.
  • Takes *"ownership" of a customer's systems and infrastructure with a clear priority and understanding that these systems are critical to the ongoing business of the customer. Prioritizing and taking the necessary action to resolve situations in which a customer's system and/or infrastructure are "down" or not functional.  It is important to take the customer's situation seriously and provide quick and timely support. *  "ownership" in this phrase is used as an adjective to describe the responsibility for the customer's systems and infrastructure which the Technology Systems Specialist (TSS) takes in order to insure that any problems are mitigated in a timely manner to the customer's satisfaction.  It is expected that the TSS will not engage in 'blaming' another vendor or person but, rather, will stay focused on resolving the problem so that the customer's system is returned to full functionality and performance.
  • Performs ongoing training and design support for the customer for the life of the system, specifically in support of customer growth, employee turnover, system feature enhancements, etc.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of assigned information technology systems features and system operation; obtains manufacturer certifications and other industry certifications as required. Reviews new system features and programs to apply to applications for our customer's business operations.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees and managers to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity and continued improvement.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

Education:

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent work experience.

 Experience:

  • Two (2) years PC Hardware/Software Experience.
  • Two (2) years Network and User Support Experience

 Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certifications (preferred)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (preferred)
  • Cisco Certifications (preferred)
