Fire Alarm Designer/Drafter
Work directly with the department manager, and project manager to deliver code compliant engineered drawing sets for submittal/permit, including floor plans, riser diagrams and details, circuit and battery calculations, using AutoCAD for our Fire Alarm projects which vary in size from tenant build-outs to large complex high-rise, and network campus projects that meet customer requirements within the project budget and schedule.
The ideal candidate is an analytical problem-solver, with a high aptitude for critical thinking tasks and the ability to provide appropriate solutions meeting a defined schedule and budget.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Reviews own drawings for quality and accuracy.
- Print, run copies, distribute shop drawings/close-out documents to different departments as necessary.
- Prepares system record drawings from onsite drawing mark-ups.
- Maintains project folders and drawing files.
- Collaborate with peer designers for continuous development of standards, best practices, and operational efficiency.
- Updates project schedule on a daily basis.
- Assist in developing drafting guidance to entry level designers and drafters, and serve as a mentor when needed.
- Plan work in a responsible manner, balancing company goals with consideration to schedule, budget, safety and resources.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of fire detection and alarm engineering design experience.
- Thorough working knowledge and understanding of NFPA and ICC I-codes & standards, as well as local AHJ addendums to the relevant codes.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, 5+ years' experience (recent versions).
- Advanced understanding of Architectural, Electrical, and Mechanical layouts and diagrams and their interface to fire alarm systems.
- Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills.
- Be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Must have Drafting degree, or Certificate.
- Proficient with MS Office Software, especially Excel.
- NICET Level III in Fire Alarm Systems minimum certification or be obtainable within 90 days.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance, if required.
- This position requires a valid driver's license, clean driving record and insurance.
Additional skills that are a plus:
- BIM (Revit) design experience
- Bluebeam experience
- Notifier experience
