We are currently seeking an IT/Voice Technician to add to our team.   The Technician is responsible for installation and maintenance of customer IT and IP Telephony networks, including VOIP, L3 Switches, Wireless, Firewalls, and VMWare.  Support will be required on site at the customer location, remotely from our office, as well as phone support.  Excellent communication and documentation skills, coupled with a high sense of urgency and an ability to handle multiple tasks and varying customer personalities, is vital to the success of this position.  This is an IT and voice systems service position with the potential to advance both within the position as well as other areas in the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Designs, configures, installs and troubleshoots network hardware, software and applications for Voice, Data, Video and other converged systems on end user networks.  Uses professional discretion to establish, write, and modify a detailed program specification through needs assessment and design meetings with the customer.  Advises customer on specific program specifications and needs.  Performs knowledge transfer to coworkers.
  • Programs the system, develops required documentation, communicates the final design to the customer, tests system programming, and ensures proper system operation.
  • Performs remote moves, adds and changes on converged systems.
  • Prepares and maintains network system documentation.
  • Adopts, improves, and educates others on Tech's existing IT company-wide technical standards.
  • Resolves service issues and customer inquiries pertaining to converged IT systems.
  • Escalates issues to the manufacturer as required.  Conforms to service level agreements and escalates as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of converged IT systems and stays abreast of new technology.  Obtains industry and/or manufacturer certifications as required by manager; proactively reviews and assists their manager in the development of their education and certification plan.
  • Maintains communications with the Project Manager and/or Service Operations Manager throughout the project regarding project site activity.
  • Maintains, accurately completes and promptly turns in all paperwork associated with assigned work orders.  Continuously in contact with other team members related to the specific project(s).
  • Maintains stock of company vehicles to ensure maximum productivity out at customer sites.
  • Oversees all work performed by Subcontractors at the customer or project site; ensures that work performed by Subcontractor adheres to Tech Electronics' quality standards.
  • Understands and adheres to the installation and safety standards developed and defined by the Company.
  • Responsible for suggesting methods to improve operations, processes, efficiency, and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Obtains and maintains manufacturer and industry certifications as defined by the Operations Manager.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees and managers to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.

Secondary Functions

  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
  • Must perform standby or after hour's service duties as required.

The Preferred Candidate Will Possess:

  • Five or more years working in the electronics field where AC/DC theory is used on a daily basis.
  • Three or more years' telephone, voice, VOIP, and/or computer networks systems service experience.
  • CompTIA A+, Net +, CTP, CCNA, etc., highly preferred.
  • Manufacturer and Industry Certifications on data switches, wireless, firewalls, VoIP Networks and MCSE for applications integration. Previous experience with MITEL, Brocade, Aruba, Ruckus, and HP, Sonicwall preferred.
  • Working knowledge of communications technologies (PRI, SIP, MPLS, MetroE, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and use of test equipment, test packages and diagnostic methods and techniques in trouble-shooting to locate isolate and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Network environments including, routers, switches, wireless and cabling.
  • Strong customer service orientation and dedication to the customer.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of management and across diverse organizations.
  • Ability to change communication style to fit the situation and audience.
