POSITION OVERVIEW 

The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and implement training and documentation initiatives.  These initiatives improve the productivity of the organization's employees and create a culture of continual process improvement.  The position focuses on achieving tangible business results through training, documentation, testing, and various other developmental initiatives.   This position actively searches for, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate staff and enhance performance as pertains to business process innovation.  The Training and Documentation Specialist performs these activities for the entire corporation.

 

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates learning based on business process. Training 1:1, small group, and large group instruction; incorporates a variety of presentation methods to accommodate adult learning styles; customizes training so that it corresponds to the appropriate level and job function.
  • Acts as a change agent to ensure user adoption and performance criteria are met; communicates and emphasizes benefits, goals, and outcomes during all training and documentation activities.
  • Conducts new employee training, testing, and onboarding with an emphasis on performance.
  • Develops multimedia correspondence and documentation, including but not limited to: training curriculum, participant guides, testing assessments, job aids, presentation aids, newsletters, memos, intranet postings, videos, etc.
  • Designs & Develops training courses as e-learning modules where appropriate; publishes to LMS
  • Maintains an electronic library of multimedia tools in order to streamline development time; ensures that information is relevant, clear, concise, and accurate.
  • Maintains expert knowledge on all company business processes and systems; partners with Subject Matter Experts as required in order to create and revise departmental procedures through process mapping and various other documentation techniques.
  • Translates custom application design documents into relevant instructional material as new applications and software enhancements are developed. Oversees company wide training on these applications and enhancements. 
  • Documents and conducts recurring training sessions with end users as required / requested to maintain system performance, reinforce skills, and ensure compliance with documented procedure.
  • Functions as an advocate for business process innovation; documents and communicates user feedback to the Business Systems Manager for the purpose of improving organizational outcomes.
  • Contributes to the overall success of training, performance, change agency, and user adoption processes by researching and applying methodologies and best practices.
  • Reduces training costs by researching and implementing distance learning techniques; conducts onsite training when appropriate.
  • Maintains favorable working relationship with all employees and managers to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity and continued improvement.

 

Secondary Functions

  • Business Analysis:
    • Conduct continual improvement, testing, and prototyping sessions.
    • Support the end user help desk, addressing questions and concerns about software and business processes.

 

 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

 Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) preferably in English, Journalism, Communication or related discipline or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • Four years experience using computer systems, including MS Office.
  • Two years experience maintaining documentation and executing revision control
  • Ability to type 60 wpm
  • Prior experience training in a corporate or educational environment
  • Prior experience in corporate process development and continual improvement projects

Preferred:

  • Advanced Degree (Master's)
  • Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Instructional Design
  • Experience working in an ERP system
  • Prior experience with business analysis & design
