We are currently seeking a Voice/IT Technician to add to our team.   The Technician is responsible for installation and maintenance of customer Phone Systems, and VoIP networks.  Support will be required either on site at the customer location, remotely from our office or phone support.  Excellent communication and documentation skills, coupled with a high sense of urgency and an ability to handle multiple tasks and varying customer personalities, is vital to the success of this position.  This is a Phone System service position with the potential to advance both within the position as well as other areas in the company.

Essential Functions

  • Configures, installs and troubleshoots hardware, software and applications for Voice and Data on end user networks.  Uses professional discretion to establish, implement and modify a detailed program specification through needs assessment and design meetings with the customer.  Advises customer to specific program specifications and needs.  
  • Programs the system, develops required documentation, communicates the final design to the customer, tests system programming, and ensures proper system operation.
  • Performs remote or onsite moves, adds and changes on communication systems.
  • Prepares and maintains network system documentation.
  • Resolves service issues and customer inquiries pertaining to communication systems.
  • Escalates issues to the manufacturer as required.  Conforms to service level agreements and escalates as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of communication systems and stays abreast of new technology.  Obtains industry and/or manufacturer certifications as required by manager; proactively reviews and assists their manager in the development of their education and certification plan.
  • Maintains communications with the Project Manager and/or Service Operations Manager throughout the project regarding project site activity.
  • Maintains, accurately completes, and promptly turns in all paperwork associated with assigned work orders.  Continuously in contact with other team members related to the specific project(s).
  • Maintains stock of company vehicles to ensure maximum productivity at customer sites.
  • Oversees all work performed by Subcontractors at the customer or project site; ensures that work performed by Subcontractor adheres to Tech Electronics' quality standards.
  • Understands and adheres to the installation and safety standards developed and defined by the Company.
  • Responsible for suggesting methods to improve operations, processes, efficiency, and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees and managers to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.

Secondary Functions

  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
  • Must perform standby or after hour's service duties as required.

 The Preferred Candidate Will Possess:

  • Three or more years telephone, voice, VOIP, and/or computer networks systems service experience.
  • CompTIA, Net +, CTP, or SSCP is preferred.
  • Manufacturer and Industry Certifications on data switches, wireless, firewalls, VoIP Networks and applications are preferred.
  • Mitel systems experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of carrier telecommunications technologies (PRI,ISDN, SIP and VoIP etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and use of test equipment, test packages and diagnostic methods and techniques in trouble-shooting to locate isolate and resolve problems,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Network environments including, routers, switches, wireless and cabling.
  • Strong customer service orientation and dedication to the customer.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of management and across diverse organizations.
  • Ability to change communication style to fit the situation and audience.
